Every week it seems like I hear about another celebrity or public figure apologizing for some comment they made about something, a comment that was just them expressing their opinion about a situation or person. I always wonder why they need to apologize for having an opinion.

Now, if they legitimately do something wrong, yes apologize. However, why are people expected to suddenly have no opinions as soon as they become a public figure? If I voiced my opinion about something no one would ask me to apologize, probably because most people don’t care what my opinion is, so why do we place such importance on the opinions of celebrities?

  1. I don’t really follow any of them outside of if I like their TV/Movie… when I’m watching the news and their opinion makes the news ticker it makes me shake my head. I don’t really care what their opinion is on politics. I want a historian or economists opinion on the news. Why we feel the need to apologize? Nowadays no one wants to OFFEND anyone, it makes us too careful and in some cases I feel like by not being able to stand on your opinion (its not just the famous) that you have to allow your personal beliefs to be hidden away. A little rant and I’m sure not very well described, so many facets this opens in my thought process.

    • That’s the whole point of these posts lol, I’ve been trying to get people discussing things they have opinions about. I wonder, if everyone was honestly polled, how many people feel the way we do, that we don’t care about the opinions of famous people and I don’t expect them to have to apologize for expressing their opinions, especially when they do it privately.
